Background Information

The Blenheim Palace International horse Trials is now firmly established in the eventing calendar having run since 1990 with the world's best riders and the thousands of spectators who come each year to watch the event.

The Cross Country course is designed by Eric Winter and built by David Evans and his team ( Beijing Olympic course builders 2008) who also manage the event site and make sure the ground conditions are optimal.

Day one is when the CCI3*dressage tests in the arena begin set against the magnificent backdrop of Blenheim Palace. Dressage which is the first phase of the three day event ,takes place all day Thursday and Friday.

Cross-country day and the pivotal part of the whole competition is Saturday for the CCI3* competitors and Sunday for the CIC3* Competitors. Riders take on the challenge of the big, solid fences on a timed course which runs around the parkland the CCI3* will run from approx 10 - 3pm on Saturday (followed by CIC3* showjumping) and the CIC3* will be on Sunday from 11 - 1.30pm between the nail-biting show jumping finale for the CCI3

In addition to the eventing action there are lots of other activities in the main arena plus activities in the second arena, with the Dodson & Horrell-sponsored Pony Club and Riding Clubs team competition  and many equine and other displays, plus all the shops –  more than 200!!
